Week 4 – My Online Business Is Ready To Go

Online Marketing Mentor

Online Marketing MentorWell it is now the end of the 4 week challenge – although in reality it it just the beginning! Plenty has happened and it has definitely been a quick start to starting my online business.

Let me regress a little and tell you about my back class yesterday because I think it demonstrates exactly WHY you need a mentor or coach.

A Little Story

As most of you know I have 2 slipped discs and am having ongoing physio and a back exercise class that I began a couple of weeks ago. Well yesterday we had to learn a particular exercise to strengthen the lower back and buttock muscles. I had been thinking that I was getting on really well and things were beginning to improve – until I tried that exercise. Basically I couldn’t do it.

Since my disc problems affect my lower back the muscles there are very weak – I had no idea just how weak!

Heres what I had to do – have a go yourself and you will find it really easy πŸ™‚

Lie on your front with your forehead resting on your hands so that you are facing the floor. Then gently lift up your legs one at a time. Easy! Well I could lift my left leg but my right leg was like a dead weight – I coudn’t lift it.

I actually felt embarrassed as everyone in the class was doing it OK. I told the instructor that I was having difficulty and she said

“it’s not silly at all – don’t forget you are a work in progress and thats what I’m here to help you with”

You Need a Mentor

She then told me a different way of doing it that would encourage the muscles to start working and I managed to lift my right leg off the floor a little! πŸ™‚

I guess you know what I am getting at. We all need to mentor or coach at some stage. Someone to show us how to do things, to encourage us when we face impossible tasks and set us targets so that we can see our progress.

My Progress

During the 4 weeks of this challenge I realise what it is that I needed. Someone to help me focus. Someone to be accountable to. I now know what I need to do and how to do it! I have the encouragement and support to take the action even if its hard!

Would I recommend getting a mentor?

YES! YES! YES!

I would love to know what you think about this challenge and if there are any questions you have about it. I will do my best to answer them!

  1. Hi Kay. I hope your back is doing better now with the right encouragement πŸ™‚

You drew a nice parallel there. I look forward to seeing your progress.

    1. Thank you for your encouraging words Janie. I hope I dont get too overwhelmed as it is nearly the summer holidays and I will be a full time mum for 6 weeks! Might need to start staying up late…
      Kay

  2. Kay!!

It’s so nice to see you on video! It’s 2:19am here and I was actually very sleepy before I watched your video. Now I’m wide awake and excited.

    Your excitement is contagious dear!!

I’m very sure you’ll be successful in anything that you decided to do because you have a BIG heart Kay.

    Take care!

    1. Me too Chetz.

I am very say that it is coming to an end although I suspect that in reality it wont be the end as we all still have access to the forum.

Can’t wait for the webinar tomorrow.

Glad to see your blog back up again! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Kay,

I think its great that your family are right behind you on the challenge and i must say I loved that video. You came across so well and even more important was that you came across enthusiastically and with purpose.

    Thanks

    Richard

  4. Hi Kay!

I’ve been involved in Internet Marketing for 10 months now and must admit that I’m really impressed by the progress that I’ve made thus far.

BTW…I’m really happy about your progress.

Also, I should to follow your lead and become more social. I feel as if I’m the only person who’s never tweeted and I rarely do anything on facebook. So, I think my next post will be entitled “Getting Social,” which will be inspired by you! After all, it’s probably time I catch up with the rest of the world.

I’ll be stopping by again soon. Until then…keep taking action!

    Shawn

    1. Thanks Shawn

Its a lot to learn quite quickly. Twitter and facebook are so useful now for any kind of marketing. But you need to be strict with yourself or you can spend way too long looking through them!

I look forward to seeing your tweet!
      Kay

  5. Hi Kay,

I really enjoyed your testimonial video it’s great to hear your story in the spoken word so to speak lol, I’ve been a bit lax with my blog lately but getting back on board all the best

    Nathan

  6. Hi Kay,

Thank you for the ways you help me – this site really inspires me to go do more with my blog – you are always doing more with kayfranklin.com that keeps drawing me back for more inspiration!

I enjoy the content and especially enjoy your lovely light touch with personal stories (something I’m striving to do), you’ve given us tools that work and help, and you are demonstrating, here, what you talk about.

I am so looking forward to what you will be telling us about how the coaching goes and how it changes your business and your life.

Hope your back is better and stronger day by day…

    Jackie

  7. Hey Kay,

Well having a mentor is really good but it’s not for everyone or better said, not everyone can get the same benefits from having a mentor.

Each mentor is different and they approach things differently which is only logical since there are many ways to make money online.

But I would highly recommend following someone who is successful anyway.

I have found that if you like a specific internet marketer and s/he opens a coaching program, you jump on it!

It will save a lot of headaches and shorten the fail/learning curve to successful Internet Marketing.

Great video Kay, I really liked it and love the piano in the back, hope you have a great weekend! πŸ˜‰

    Sergio

    1. I also liked your digital piano in your video – what type is it?

My piano is a lovely piece of furniture but could do with a tune – the downside of having an accoustic! My dad used to be a piano tuner so I am waiting for him to remember to bring his kit along and tune it! Its not full size – an octave short on the lower range but I love it πŸ™‚

Have a cool weekend too – no typing allowed…
      Kay

      1. Hey that’s cool to know Kay!

Mine is a MIDI Controller so it doesn’t makes any sound on its own, it’s been a while that I don’t use it but I’m looking forward to get back to it as I want to make my own intros and outros for videos. πŸ™‚

Hope you had a great weekend and speak soon!

        Sergio

        1. Ha. I thought about doing that with my small keyboard but I lack inspiration!

I have heard about MIDI controllers but I’m not sure what they do. Perhaps you can do a guitar intro?
          Kay

  8. Hi Kay

I love the way you start off your post with something we can all relate to.

In fact one of the clients I saw yesterday in my pain relief practice was suffering from lower back pain.

She had felt it coming on and getting progressively worse for several days but thought (no, that isn’t correct, she didn’t think – she “hoped”) it would pass.

Needless to say, the pain problem did not pass. Instead it got to the stage where she could hardly walk at all.

And so I agree wholeheartedly with you when you say we need a mentor…
…. and as well as that, we also need to listen to our own selves, because I have found that we often do know the things we need to do, but instead of doing them, we start to hope that we can get what we want without putting in any effort.

Yes, we need a mentor. And we need to take action.

I love your video and I think you have done amazingly well during these challenging three/ four weeks.

    Well done!

    1. Thank you Dave.
I’m sure you see a lot of people with this sort of problem. They come to you because they need professional help – a mentor if you like.

I’m looking forward to getting a copy of your ebook by the way πŸ™‚

      Kay

      1. Thanks Kay

Yes I do see a lot of people with back and body pain, and I have noticed that many pain sufferers easily fall into the the same pain producing habits once the pain they are currently suffering from has been relieved (hope that makes sense!).

Of course the pain returns eventually.

Why don’t we do what we know we should do?
Although I do realise that in some ways I am no better.

I’ve known for a while what to do to build blog and generate traffic, but I have done more in these last four weeks to do that very thing than I have in a long time.

It’s good to chat to you again, and the ebook you mention is actually multi-media (I’m including videos as well). That is why it is taking longer than I thought to complete…
… and, Kay, I appreciate your patience.

        1. Looking forward to receiving a copy and I can be patient…. πŸ™‚

Yes. When things are feeling fine we fall back into the old ways – certainly I have learnt that this week. I have sat down for too long a time when I should know better. Now I have pain down my leg again. 3 steps up and 2 steps back. Reminds me of a Bruce Springsteen song….
          Kay
